A company can be affected by diversity and the ethnicity of its employees, the difference in gender aspect, the age of employee’s working in the company and even socioeconomics. Each has its own impact on the company in general, in the areas that the employees work and in how the employees individually interact with one another. Diversity within the organization that I work for is respected by management. This shows in their diplomatic leadership style. For example, the employee of the month is decided by a team of outside mangers who vote separately. Another way diversity is respected in our organization is with various committees that determine company activities, committees, discipline, and the measurement of work. Managers and employees have the opportunity to serve on different committees, no matter the years of experience, or expertise in a specific area, again by simply volunteering. These ideas could impact the progress of a school improvement process. For example, a leader may believe that teachers should not be involved in the lives of the students beyond the classroom. This could impede the progress of an initiative that encourages home school connections.
Today many of us still lack the ability to communicate effectively within interpersonal relationships. It is through teamwork and collaboration that effective communication occurs. By analyzing and studying the communication process we can improve our ability to communicate effectively between one another. Recognizing emotions in others is a very important first step for building a relationship.
