Diet Analysis
The purpose of this project is to exam my diet and discuss the diet based on what I have learned in class. Throughout the process, I understood more about healthy eating and how the way we eat affect our body and overall health. Being able to go in depth with my diet has changed the way I think about what I consume daily.
The first thing I notice about my diet is the Dietary Reference Intake (DRI), intake vs. goals. What I saw was an adequate amount of protein, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C intake. They were all over 150%. To go in depth with my protein intake, most of my protein sources came from grilled chicken breast and whey protein.There are many benefits protein have for the body. Some examples are that it helps with growth and maintenance, enzymes that act as catalysts, where chemical reactions take place, hormones that helps with overall body regulations, and protein move needed nutrients (157). With Vitamin C, I know my consumption came from eggs, leafy greens, fruits, and sweet potatoes. What I learned in classes is that Vitamin A helps with vision, growth and repair of bone tissues. They also help with hormone synthesis and acts as antioxidant in the form of beta-carotene (183). The last large amount of intake I consumed was Vitamin C. Vitamin C is water-soluble vitamin. The type of food I consumed for nutrient Vitamin C are citrus fruits and dark green vegetables. Vitamin C helps heal wounds and helps body absorb iron. Too much intake may cause abdominal…
