Clinical Interview: Arnold And Boggs's Case

Despite the fact that the interviewer was obviously very nervous, the interview overall went very well. However, there are several things that the interviewer could also improve on for her next interview. She effectively explained the setup of the room and explained the recording process. She also assured the patient that everything that took place in the room would remain confidential. As stated in Arnold and Boggs, it is “the nurse’s legal responsibility to guard against invasion of the client’s privacy” (pg. 37). She also gave the patient an appropriate amount of time to respond to the questions that were asked. This enabled the patient to seem very relaxed. It appreared as though the interviewer cared about every word that the patient

The best interpretation of a dental hygienist that I can conceive is a professional whose main job is to teach their clients the essential oral hygiene skills and provide dental care in order for the client to maintain their overall oral health. Among the various responsibilities performed for the client to insure their health and safety includes making sure, we, as dental hygienists first do not harm to the patient by contaminating with pathogens that could have easily been disposed of by simply following the standard rules of infection control. As stated by Ester Wilkins “Dental healthcare personnel have a professional obligation to serve all patients with comprehensive oral care, including patients with known or unknown communicable diseases.…

The individual I chose for my curious conversation was my supervisor, Cheyenne Jeffrey. Cheyenne has been in banking for 35 five years and has been a part of many changes within the banking world from innovation in technology, merging over to different owners and working with different direct reports and leaders. With this career there is a lot of change due to so much competition so I had the pleasure to interview Mrs. Jeffrey and learn more about how she dealt with influences, challenges and strategies of innovation over the course of her career. Our interview began with discussing influences of innovation in banking. Cheyenne shared that she believe the major influence in innovation is creativity and technology.…

In this case, the participants are the patients and the research setting would be the doctor’s office. The researcher or the person conducting the interview can observe the reactions to different doctors and come to a conclusion on how the patients react to them. In this case the question “How good was your doctor today?” where it examines things such as politeness, listening to you and making you feel at ease would be determined cues such as body language or conversation between the doctor and patient. This is not as reliable…

For this assignment, I interviewed Felicia Low, a Program Advisor at the School of Public Health. This interview taught me a lot about myself and my interpersonal communication skills when it comes to communication on a one-on-one basis. Prior to the interview, I was a bit nervous since I did not know Mrs. Low personally and never communicated with her face-to-face. I prepared to conduct the interview in a way that it would feel like a normal conversation and not a regular interview. For example, I would not always say things from the interview questions that I prepared, I would sometimes ask a question on piece of information that she would share.…

There are a few ways that Keisha demonstrated professionalism during the assessment. She began the interview process with the patient by using clear communication that was professional. She stayed on topic with the patient concerning her medical issues. I noticed the compassion in her voice when she talked to the patient about the chief complaint. When the patient asked her if she thought she had an STD she avoided the question but assured the patient that the doctor would talk more with her concerning the issues she was having.…

The second idea that I found to be very credible was in the way that he let both of them speak uninterrupted. This not only gets the conversation going, but also provides a platform from where to begin the interview. Both the mother and daughter got so many things off of their chest by implementing this method. In the “Clinical Interviewing” handbook, the clients’ opening response is crucial in the entire process. The book states, “The beginning of the session is a time for the patient to speak freely and your opening should encourage this.…

The first person I interviewed was Vanessa Tlachi, president of the DREAM Team at City College. For our interview I reserved one of those small rooms in the first floor of the library. The room was small and cozy. There were a couple of desks with computers and since the doors were made of crystal, you could see what was happening outside. Well, you could see only the big shelves packed with books.…

The effects of taking my time with Mr X I believe gave an opportunity to building a therapeutic relationship between myself and the patient. This is key to developing mutual trust and respect. Therapeutic relationships can be built by using good communication skills which also promotes person centred care, communication which could include verbal and non-verbal on a one to one basis which may have been more beneficial for Mr X to fully understand what was about to happen to overcome the communication barrier which may have been caused by his dementia condition or simply that he didn’t hear properly. (Clinical barriers. Person-centred care.…

Commentary on the interviews and focus groups (challenges, what worked well, keeping on track etc) “Qualitative interviewing appears a very significant tool with which to understand central features of our conversational world” (Brinkmann, 2013, p.4). As a former reporter of printing media, I used to do the interview as frequently as daily. I conducted the interviews with different background of people such as artists, actors and actress, writers, professors and businessmen. I have been done some interviews with English language speaking interviewees.…
