Agencies Purpose
Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) was one of the practicum sites that I visited and interview with, as part of selecting a proper placement. Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) is a general medicine and surgery facility.
From the merger of the Montgomery and Tuskegee VA Medical Centers, Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) was established January 1, 1997. The agency was previously known as Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which was originated in 1865 during the Civil War as the first federal hospitals.
In addition to the main facilities in Tuskegee and Montgomery, services and community-based outpatient clinics are offered in Dothan, Alabama and Columbus,

BreAnna Whitaker and Mr. Redwond, as well as with Ms. Davis who was on the speaker phone. In my opinion, my interview went well. The interviewers and I felt comfortable. Being that first impressions are critical, I prepared for the interview.
Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System is the intern site that I chose because my long term goal is to work as a Social Worker at this agency. In the next five years, I plan to retire with the state of Alabama and seek employment with the government, at a Veteran hospital. I also chose this agency because the interviewer made me feel relax and comfortable.
Social Workers play a key role in helping our nation’s Veterans obtain needed care and services. Social Worker provides assistance in improving social conditions and quality of life opportunities for Veterans, their families, and caregivers.
Social Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of care through the admission, evaluation, treatment, and follow-up processes. This includes coordinating discharge planning and providing case management services based on the patients clinical and community health and social services resources. Social Workers develop and implement treatment approaches which address individual social
