Theater Manager Interview Report

The first person I interviewed was Vanessa Tlachi, president of the DREAM Team at City College. For our interview I reserved one of those small rooms in the first floor of the library. The room was small and cozy. There were a couple of desks with computers and since the doors were made of crystal, you could see what was happening outside. Well, you could see only the big shelves packed with books. The two lamps that were there made of the room a very comfortable and intimate place. Before the interview I was a little concerned because I did not know how it would go. I was wondering if my questions would cover 45 minutes. However, my major concern was if Vanessa was talkative or shy. To my surprise the interview went better than what I was expecting. Vanessa seemed very comfortable talking about herself throughout the entire interview. Even when she was telling me some of the awful things she went through, she looked pretty calm.

She argues that “Being a dreamer is not just advocating for me or my family, but really advocating for the whole group because we are all together in this fight.” Some of the projects the DREAM Team is currently working on is a project called “Applied Theater.” According to Vanessa, it is away to apply theater on social justice issues.
