Upon analyzing Dr. Phil’s credentials, I came to find that he is a very credited individual who is reputable within the psychology realm. He is a well known Mental Health Professional who became a household name after Oprah Winfrey recruited him in 1998, to work on her show in the early 90’s. Since then he has broke out into a very well known TV personality who hosts an ossortment of people with different problems. He graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Four years later, he obtained his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Texas. As if that wasn’t enough, He went on to receive a post Doctorate Fellowship in Forensic Psychology. In 2002 he launched his very own TV show called Dr. Phil. After reviewing some of …show more content…
The second idea that I found to be very credible was in the way that he let both of them speak uninterrupted. This not only gets the conversation going, but also provides a platform from where to begin the interview. Both the mother and daughter got so many things off of their chest by implementing this method. In the “Clinical Interviewing” handbook, the clients’ opening response is crucial in the entire process. The book states, “The beginning of the session is a time for the patient to speak freely and your opening should encourage this. Let the patient speak in his/her own way for a little while—perhaps 5 min or so. This will help you hear the patients’ speech pattern and thought process (Sommers-Flanagan).” Dr. Phil’s method of incorporating this into his Psychiatric Interviews is clearly shown in several Clinical handbooks such as this one. This shows that this man truly is a professional that knows what he is doing. After all, all eyes are on him. The third comment/idea he made which resonated in me was the way that he is a straight shooter. He does not give you hints or insinuates anything but rather tells it like it is. If he thinks

I recently interviewed a clinical caseworker at the East St. Louis Department of Child and Family Services office. He received his Master's in Social Work from Washington University and is a licensed clinical social worker. We discussed the various responsibilities that his job requires. Despite the fact that the interviewer was obviously very nervous, the interview overall went very well. However, there are several things that the interviewer could also improve on for her next interview. She effectively explained the setup of the room and explained the recording process. She also assured the patient that everything that took place in the room would remain confidential. As stated in Arnold and Boggs, it is “the nurse’s legal responsibility to guard against invasion of the client’s privacy” (pg. 37).…

Cecilla, Nice post. I think it does get a bit difficult to work with those individual that definitely do not want to be seen as your equal and insist on being recognized as not your equal due to dominance and recognition issues. I looked it up and physician assistants can get doctorate degrees (Reid, 2013). There is some issues with them being addressed as doctor when they themselves have to report and be supervised by a doctor. I work with doctors that insist on being called by their first names and get offended if you call them by doctor.…

During the couple of years that I have been visiting the dentist, I have gone to quite a few dental offices for different types of dental treatments. I have left many offices for various reasons such like their services being too expensive, their appointments being too short making me feel rushed, and or because of unfriendly attitudes from the staff. Four years ago, I came across Concord Dental, a small private dental office in Lovejoy, Georgia. I decided to give them a try, and I have been with them ever since. This is the main reason why I decided to interview the recently promoted office manager, Vanessa, on the office’s marketing techniques.…

She also stays in close contact with her siblings they go camping every summer together. I am a avid camper myself and I can say that camping isn’t the easiest vacation to go on. It takes a lot of time and motivation to pack your house up and the belongings you will need, than you travel how far you chose, setup camp, and start having fun, however, your day to day life with camping isn’t as easy as most may think. It takes a lot to keep you organized and put together. If you don’t have a camper you can’t just open the fridge and take something you have to dig through your cooler to find what you need, it’s harder to clean up things because usually you are doing dishes outside in a bucket not standing in front of a sink and then you have to pack everything up go home unpack and put everything away.…

QUESTION #1 1. Personally, I believe Melinda needs to breathe and think about everything carefully. Going to a peaceful location like the beach would be very good for her to clear and mind and figure out exactly what she would like to do. One personal characteristic of effective counselors that would be most helpful in this situation would be effective therapists make mistakes and are willing to admit them. They do not dismiss their errors lightly, yet they do not choose to dwell on them, either (Corey, 2013, p.20).…

My interview this week for my professional development interview was with my host teacher for this quarter. Mrs. Barb Diaz is currently a kindergarten teacher at Barber Language Academy in Rockford. She has taught for almost 30 years in the Rockford School District, Head Start, Spectrum, and as an adjunct teacher with Rockford University. While also being my aunt, she has been my mentor these many years and has displayed a passion for teaching children that I have found unmatched. Her classroom style is a bit unconventional as she is trying new ways to meet the developmentally appropriate needs of her Kindergarten classrooms.…

Melissa, Scott and Sarah were at home when I came for the interview, so I was able to observe interactions among them; however, Megan wasn’t home at the time so I was unable to observe interactions among her and her family members. When interviewing, I found it difficult to ask questions about death of family members because I feared that this would cause an unexpected emotional response; however, I utilized communication techniques I have learned in the past and Melissa was very responsive and it did not seem to affect her…
