Psy.D. in clinical for therapy and practical implications
The main reason that I was drawn to psychology in the first place was the ability to become a therapist. I have always admired the job and ever since taking sessions myself, I believe it is a rewarding career, not only for the therapist but also the client. I have always wanted to be able to help people and give assistance where it is needed. I believe that therapy is a job not only I would be able to do this but also enjoy. I like the thought of being able to get tot interact with someone and know them on a personal level to be able to cure them of their issues. Not only would I like to be able to help people with everyday issues, but I would also like to take clients with more severe illnesses like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I have always been interested in mental disorders, I not only want to learn more about them but be able to treat the disorder. If I were to get a Ph.D. in psychology, I would prefer it to be in clinical applied psychology. The best degree to become a therapist would be a clinical Psy.D. because it gives me the most experience and knowledge to deal with everyday issues and mental illnesses. To be able to understand treatments and illnesses I would have to take several classes and programs that would give me a vast knowledge on what I will deal with during the working world. This degree I feel best would give me the skills and knowledge I would need to be able to find ethical cures…
