My academic goals are to complete my bachelors degree in Human Services from Empire State College and my masters degree in Psychology. I sometimes ponder the idea of having a PhD, but I am not completely sure about that yet. I want to be a top student and do my best in school. I worked for many years and earned 48 college credits. I ended up managing a bank and this made me confident that I could achieve success and be anything I put my mind to. I decided that when my daughter was settled into her college of choice I would go back to school myself and earn a degree.
My decision to become a therapist stems from the many environmental issues I faced in my life and the will to help others be strong when they are up against all odds. I was successful and I know that so many other young ladies could be as well. I want to change the way we think about young women, mothers, high school drop outs, poor kids, the minorities, the ones that never had a chance. I know that each of us has it within us to shine and I want to show some of the lucky ones that I will get to reach how they can do this as well.
I know that so many young people have no one to turn to when life gets tough and that our current society is happy to write them off. I am not a part of this thinking and I would like the way that I think about this portion of society to change. I will work hard to accomplish this change because I too know that we can!
