Children Under The Age Of Thirteen Should Not Have Their Own Smartphone
Cyber-bullying, addiction, privacy issues and mental and physical problems. Some of the children who face these challenges are too young to know how to handle them properly. Once something is on the internet, it is there forever.
Fifty-three percent of children receive a smartphone at age six. Too many young kids are addicted to their phones. “ Withdrawal symptoms experienced by young people deprived of gadgets and technology is compared to those felt by drug addicts or smokers going cold turkey”(Hough). The overuse in phones can also cause a slip in grades, can hurt social interaction, and can cause unhappiness or depression. The overuse of phones can cause the radiation given off by mobile devices can make someone sick. In extreme cases the radiation can give the person cancer, most likely in the brain (airstech).The radiation can affect the brain because of the closeness of the phone to the ear when you listen closely or talk on the phone. Kids are more vulnerable to the radiation that is given off.
