In “texting may be taking a toll”, Katie hafner states that physicians and psychologists are getting worried that texting is very well taking a toll on teens and that it's starting to cause sleeping issues and other issues in teens. Dr. Martin Joffe, who is a pediatrician in california surveyed many kids who says these kids/teens send hundreds of texts a day. “That's one every few minutes”. Katie Hafner is mostly saying that most of the time kids are hiding the fact that they are texting and that they don't want anyone to know they are texting when they aren't suppose to and that is affecting they way the body and brain work according to physiologists.

Which annie is saying that they go into her backpack and text someone during classes. As it says in the text teachers are normally oblivious about when students are texting during class or not and the chemistry teacher in the school in the text says that “it’s a huge issue and that it is rampant.”
Additionally kids aren't the only ones sucked into phones. According to a little girl named Reina her mom is addicted to her phone even though her mom took away Reina’s phone. “She should understand a little better, because she’s always on her iphone” Reina said. In the last paragraph Reina says “Even though they text 3,500 messages a week, when they walk out of their ballet lesson, they’re upset to see their dad in the car on the BlackBerry,” she said. “The fantasy of every adolescent is that the parent is there, waiting, expectant, completely there for them.”
