Texts. Snapchats. Emails. Tweets. Messages. Facebook. The list can go on. teenagers receive up to around 4,000 text messages a month according to a survey conducted by Common Sense Media, a nonprofit that promotes safe technology use for children. As the digital world is advancing, the issue of safe and acceptable cell phone use is arising. A cellphone or smartphone can be used in numerous different ways. These devices can make phone calls, send messages and browse the web and are important and necessary in our 21st century society. However, cell phone use has gone too far- especially in our education systems. While cell phones can have positive impacts inside the classroom for learning purposes, this piece of technology should be prohibited during school hours because students abuse this privilege and are misusing their smartphones which is harming their education and the wellbeing of themselves and others.

In schools that have implemented a cell phone ban, there has been a 14% dramatic increase on test scores for underachieving students
