In the Veterans Affairs, the Functional Statement for Chief Nurse (CN) requires the CN to provides executive leadership; assumes continuing and substantial responsibility for the coordination, directing, managing, and evaluation of all nursing care provided within units; assures follow up of the timely resolutions of issues identified by the internal and external review/accrediting organizations; and plays a role in the embodiment of the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
At present, I report directly to the Chief Nurse; serving as Acting CN as needed. This provides plenty of exposures to the role, networking opportunities, and knowledge transfer. The experience is geared towards succession planning and transformational strength
