POP! I remember as a child always being fascinated with chewing gum. I was interested in the different flavors available to pick from. To this day, chewing gum plays a significant role in my life; one reason being that chewing gum helps with remaining focused while completing schoolwork. I am always looking for a great new favor to try out. This explains why the New 5 Gum advertisement caught my eye, in addition to the elements used in the ad. The advertisement is aiming to successfully sell the New 5 Gum by the use of colors and lightning.
This advertisement I have chosen to analyze is for New 5 Gum. The background for the page is black. At the top of the page, there is the phrase, “Ever stand where lightning just struck?” in white writing.

On the bright red stripe, you can see graphics of lightning on the left and right side of the page. As I previously stated, there is a phrase written in white text on the black portion at the top of the page. The phrase reads, “Ever stand where lightning just struck?” By using this phrase, the company is comparing the experience of trying the New 5 Gum to standing where lightning has just struck. This idea also goes hand-in-hand with the slogan of the entire brand. 5 Gum stimulates your senses! The flavor of the New 5 Gum is said to electrocute your tastes buds just as lightning would electrocute whatever it strikes. All in all, chewing gum is improving over time with new flavors and brands. 5 Gum is one of those brands and continues to release flavors that aim stimulate your senses. The company’s goal with this particular advertisement is to successfully sell the New 5 Gum by the use of colors and lightning. With the use of energized and eye catching colors along with lightning, they are able to portray that the chewing gum will successfully stimulate and satisfy your taste buds. The company did a significant job with the advertisement and definitely accomplished their goal of successfully selling the New 5
