There are several reasons why the death penalty is a good idea. One reason is that it is a warning. Death is scary because it is something no one knows about. Criminals know they will be put to death if they commit murder. They don’t want to die. Nevertheless, murder still happens frequently. Some criminals disregard the warning while others take it into consideration and decides to spare the victim. A second reason is because it provides closure for victims. The criminals responsible for the victim are caught, tried, and convicted and their punishment will be severe. It is not the criminal who killed the victim, it is about the criminal who deprived the family and friends a loved one. Sometimes, the criminal is not executed but when they are, victim’s family and friends feel relieved at no longer thinking about it. A third reason is because it is what every criminal fears. Take the same example of Ted Bundy. He and his lawyers tried to think of ways to spare him from being executed. He blamed pornography for causing him to think that women are objects, not humans. When that didn’t work, he told police where the bodies of unfound victims were. He didn’t admit that he was a bad person. Even before his execution, he believed he didn’t do anything wrong. It was obvious that he was afraid to be put to death and did his best to avert it. A fourth reason is that capital punishment is …show more content…

With Ted Bundy, he killed thirty people. The justice system responded by killing him. These reasons are something to consider. For me, I think it will have to depend on the situation. The situation which may change my view is if something happened to me personally or to my friends and family. What if a potential criminal hurts my family, my loved ones or possibly me? What if that criminal cause me or my family suffering, and we didn’t deserve for that to happen? A situation like this could cause me to think otherwise on my stance of capital punishment. If capital punishment was an option, then I might have to consider it. I want closure if something happened; I want them to be punished for that. I would feel like prison is not enough for that, even a life sentence. The death penalty is wrong but is it better to have them dead? I grew up on the basis that killing, even hurting someone is morally wrong. Not only that, the law even states that too. I believe that the state killing off the criminals are no better. I also believe that I am no better than that criminal in wanting them dead. There are many reasons why capital punishment is justified as a good thing. It is a conflict of what is moral
