Capital punishment is a government sanctioned law by which person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime.
The crimes that result in death are known by capital offences. For example: rape, torture, treason, kidnapping, murder. Capital punishment was common in the past, now a days the large majority discontinued the process. There are fifty eight countries that maintain this law, In North America United States and in south america Guatemala, Belize, Guyana, The Caribbean (except Dominican Republic and Haiti).
Capital Punishment should be legal in our society because it works as a deterrents, reducing crimes by other people and helping overcrowding problems. Nevertheless there are so many factors when people talk about death penalty because depends upon a point of view, such as morality, constitutionality, cost , etc. Making discord between the people that is in favor and against it.
People against capital punishment usually support that, the justice system makes its mistakes and many people are wrongfully accused of a crime, therefore the person not not only go to jail, but also be killed. The purpose of capital punishment is to stop future violent acts, but answering with violence is not teaching nothing to people. The costs of the death penalty are really expensive making us waste more money just to kill people , doing a lot of unnecessary courts sessions, one for guilt and the other one for death penalty. Besides the use of Capital Punishment is cruel and the universal declaration of human rights says that no human must be submitted to torture or cruelty degrading their lives. Therefore humans are not allowed to take another human life, only God. Finally, if capital punishment were to be implemented it would have various psychological effects in the population. Diverse groups of citizens will have distinct opinions regarding this matter and it will only divide communities and cause social issues. The points list above against death penalty are valid, however allow capital punishment can prevent future violent acts and show an example of the consequences of breaking the law. It is well know that justice systems is not completely effective and can make mistakes, but is a risk that citizens need to take in exchange for a society with less assault, on top of that fixing the development of the justice system making it more swift and severe transform the capital punishment into a short process, the homicide rate could be very low. One important fact that is of concern to everyone is the cost, because the use of that money comes from the taxes.
