A child with a strained relationship at home has the experience that adults can be untrustworthy. This could possibly lead to the child acting out at school. Coming from a house where they are punished, a child will hesitate to ask questions. If a child is neglected they may feel no one listens, so they will not speak out about it or feel like they can be punished for it. Low self esteem has many negative impacts on a child in the long run. The child may think they are unworthy and not actively participate in school activates. Children may have a hard time making friends because their experience is telling them not to trust. A child may be embarrassed about their home situation, and feel inadequate and in turn not invite friends over to play. We need to work together as a community to notice these signs and investigate further. Is this just the way the child’s temperament is? or is something bigger going on? The parent involvement in this system is monumental. A child’s academic performance depends on the link between home and school. A child that doesn’t receive help from a caregiver will frequently not do homework, not be provided proper work materials and have books to read this takes away from their learning experiences. The ecological systems theory stresses the impact of the parent child relationship, and also the roles the family, caregivers and community all play a significant role in the Childs physical, emotional, and mental development and health. Bronfenbrenner believed that child is born with personality and temperament but their surrounds influence their experiences and how they handle such experiences. Luckily in Bronfenbrenner’s theory he points out that children are resilient and eventually come to an age where they have the capacity to look at things with their own views, they create and modify their experiences and can come out on top with their own mind own views and hopefully some good role models on the way. it takes a village to raise a
