Being a medical and health service manager leaves you with a lot of responsibility. A few list of things a medical and health service managers have to do, they are always trying to find ways to improve the efficiency and quality in delivering effective health services to the clients. They also find, train and supervise employees. They create the schedules of everyone in their department and develop goals for the department. They make sure the facility in which they work in is up to date on all of the new laws and regulations. Medical and health service managers represent their facility to investors. That is very short list of what they do, if I listed all of them we’d be here for days. Those are the few important responsibilities. Medical and health service managers typically need at least a bachelor’s degree; however, a lot of employers prefer a master’s degree. Graduate programs usually can take anywhere up to 2-3 years, and may include 1 year of supervised administration experience in a hospital setting. A lot of people than proceed to take the NHA (Nursing Home Administrator) exam, and/or the RC/AL (Residential Care Assisted Living Administrator) exam. Most states require degrees and training and certain things, but however for Maine for both exams they require absolutely nothing, not even a bachelor’s degree.
