Cosmetology Career Paper

Cosmetology is the focus of providing hair care services to make a person’s appearance enhance. Cosmetologists offer a wide range of beauty services, such as shampooing, cutting, coloring, and styling of hair. They also may be trained to give manicures, pedicures, and scalp and facial treatments, as well as styling wigs, hairpieces, and providing makeup analysis.
The work environment for being a cosmetologist is almost always a self-set schedule. Workers normally put in a forty hour work week, or longer. Longer hours are more common in the self-employed cosmetologists. Work schedules differ from the likings of the worker. If you are running your own business then you can choose when you are open and what your hours are like. Cosmetologists need to keep their work stations clean at all times. Communication skills are very important for this occupation. You need to be able to listen to others and ask questions, and be able to speak clearly so you are understood so mistakes are not made. Reason and Problem solving can also be used to help with clients that come in with a mess up or an emergency. Management as a skill would be helpful, because you need to manage your time for your customers and to make time for yourself for breaks or to check on other employees to see if they are doing their job to the highest quality as they should be. Creativity is important, you want to stay in the style and want to imagine ideas in your head in short time frames. Physical stamina is used only because you would be standing and walking around a lot all
