So wouldn’t that allow them to become sentient and create their own purpose?” or “If we get too interdependent on technology, wouldn’t that leave us open to hack/terrorist attacks?” Well, question three, you’re right on point. But first, let’s clarify the first two ideas. A one Miguel Nicolelis is highly skeptical of a time where robots would take over. Even though the possibilities with artificial intelligent technology may seem limitless, there’s one major roadblock that stands in its way. Human consciousness. For a robot to be able to take over, it must be able to counter humans innate ability to think without algorithms. Now think about this for a second. Hopefully you can see where there might be a problem from the robots perspective. It’s entirety relies on a hardwired algorithmic system. It may be able to adapt, but it will never reach the adaptability levels a human naturally has. No matter how hyper-connected and powerful artificial intelligence may be, its no …show more content…
The limited but still incredible possibilities of AI and cyborg tech can greatly improve the lives of many people. Those who struggle with simple tasks to those who want to enhance their abilities further. Because of our advancing computer systems and our ability to create, we are able to improve the human race even further. In contrast, we still have a major downfall. Because of our natural inclination towards unpredictable, nonlinear behavior, we threaten these advancements with destruction once we allow a part of ourselves to become selfish. Many people could ruin our progress because of how opinionated we are, how divided we let ourselves be. But if we weren’t meant to, or never had the chance to create our science-fiction future, then we never really had the chance to ruin anything in the first place.
