Guns Need To Be Limited As an American citizen, owning a gun is a very common thing, but the gun violence also happened in America every day. Living in Boston, most people believe that having a gun can protect their life. In fact, the opposite is true. American created many strict policies and laws to limited the guns violence, but the amount of guns issues is still increasing. Although most American citizens have personal guns now, they haven’t get the professional training. If the real terrorist event happens, they will cannot use guns to protect themselves definitely. Guns just can be the way to hurt others and even ourselves. In a 2013 Gallup poll, gun owners stated they own firearms for the following reasons: 60 percent is protection against crime. 36 percent is for hunting and 31 percent for recreation or target shooting. (Gallup) Can guns really protect us? The answer is not absolute. Consider a 1998 study in the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery that found that “every time a gun in the home was used in a self-defense or legally justifiable shooting, there were four unintentional shootings, seven criminal assaults or homicides, and 11 attempted or completed suicides.” (Doug Chayka). According to FBI statistics, an estimated 1,197,704 violent crimes occurred nationwide in 2015. It increases of 3.9 percent from the 2014 estimate. (FBI: UCR) This number is really huge in between countries in the world. Compare with other country, the believes crime increasing in the past 3 years in American is percent 65.22, and 49.28 in china. This information can show China do much better on curb crimes than America. Let’s see what reason cause this situation: The Intentional homicide rate in china only have 1.12 percent but 4.7 percent in America. And also, in china, the percent of guns per 100 residents just 4.9 percent. America have 88.8 percent. (NationMaster ) These evidences can already explain why American crime statistics still is very high. Owning guns is one of reason. China have ban public own guns since founding. Chinese people’s power has been limited, but the power to crime also be limited. In China, it is not easy that hurt even kill others during bickering and conflict easily. After 70 years past, Chinese people and society didn’t find any problems without guns and have a huge development. Everyone knows America is a free country, but should we allow the freedom that the murderer kill person with gun? If other countries can keep developing without guns, why America cannot do same
