The Gun control act has been around since 1968 since John F. Kennedy was assassinated. The act was set to prevent certain people like fugitives from buying guns. This act also required retailers and individuals to obtain a Federal Firearms License. All background checks must be run through the (NICS), witch is part of the FBI. Background checks have brought concern of second amendment rights as well as who should be able to have a gun. In order to regulate gun control we need to raise the buying age for all guns to 21, inforce better background checks, and reduce the amount of guns sold. Gun control is also very hard to enforce, but changes to improve its current status are important.

If the fact, the US has nearly 6 times the gun homicide rate as Canada, and as much as 16 times as Germany. In Australia, the government bought back 650,000 guns resulting in a homicide rate dropped by 42 percent 7 years after passing, as well as a 57 percent drop in firearm suicide according to a Harvard study.
