Appeal Letter From West Virginia University Essay

I am writing to appeal my academic suspension from West Virginia University. Although it was no surprise to receive this letter, I was extremely saddened. Admittedly, I have not had the best past few semesters due to a number of reasons and my grades have suffered tremendously as a result. I do not intend to make any excuses about my poor academic performance but I would like to explain to you my circumstances.

From the start of my academic career at West Virginia University, my mother, whom does not support me, but does sign off on my loans put me on a four year plan; a plan that she requires me to graduate within four years or she will no longer sign off on any of my loans, therefore I will be unable to attend school. Four years may be the average time for most students to graduate, however, I am not a fast paced learner, so I knew this would be a challenge for myself. At the end of fall semester 2013, I was eligible through my grade point average to transfer from General Studies into my major, Political Science. After being enrolled into the major, I then wanted to become a dual degree student in Political Science and International Studies.

I like to believe, most parents would be happy for their children, encourage them to study in the field of their interest, and succeed at a pace best suited for themselves. Unfortunately, I was simply reminded that I now only have two more years to complete a dual degree or else I will no longer be able to attend college. Because…
