Reasons For And Against Animal Testing Essay

In this country we, the American people are free, America is the land of freedom where people all around the world come to earn their basic human rights. But, what about those poor innocent animals that can’t have a say what is being done to them. In 1966, the Animal Welfare Act was abolished to regulate the treatment of animals. Even with these laws, cruel treatment of animals still goes on and increased as well. Although animal testing brings more medical progression without practicing on humans, its results vary compared to humans, and it is an implementation of animal cruelty. Research and tests on animals have been going on for many decades. “Animal testing dates back thousands of years; evidence exists that the ancient Greeks performed experiments on living animals as early as the third century BCE” (“Animal Rights”). There have been many laws enacted to protect the rights of animals. “The Environmental Protection Agency released five new policies in June that will reduce animal testing and improve safety assessments for pesticides” (“Five New EPA Policies Reduce Animal Testing”). Just the other day I took my dog out for a walk and as I approached another canine my dog Harry started growling or when I come back from school he runs towards me wagging his tail rapidly showing excitement. This shows that we humans are not the only species to express emotions.
