Nivea Ad “White is purity” Why is that motto so bad? In the Nivea ad, they got bashed about the way they tried to advertise their deodorant. In this ad, Nivea tried to show that when you use the deodorant you will not have the marks. When you look at this ad that’s not what you are getting from it. The only part of the ad that has to do with the deodorant is the little picture in the bottom right. This was misleading because they used a woman and the room was bright. Nivea posted on Facebook as well, they said “Keep it clean, keep bright. Don’t let anything ruin it, #invisible”. All of the words in this ad are just wrong. They didn’t do a very good job advertising it as deodorant. I feel this product was made out more as an opinion statement …show more content…
The words “White is purity” is showing racism. The words they choose for this ad is bad because they didn’t have to use color. Individuals thought this motto was racist because they are talking about deodorant and that motto has nothing to do with it and the motto fits right in with the racist background of the ad. Neiva could have used a different motto to describe the deodorant meanwhile it is a deodorant that will not leave marks on white and black shirts. The Slogan that they used is just very harmful to others and the fact that they put it on the women wearing a white robe. Why did they have to use a white robe with brown hair and her hair going down her back? The brown curly hair is typical for white women is another argument towards the ad on why it is racist. They had the slogan right underneath the brown hair in the ad and on the white robe. The ad is very bright and no dual colors. She is looking outside and everything is so bright. This shows how every typical girl is supposed to look like; that is really what they are showing everyone in this ad. The fact that there are no words to even show you that they are even talking about the deodorant already looks really bad. The deodorant is designed as a bottle that is half black and half white. I find that very racist in a way that they could have chosen a different design especially for the ad because it is already bad enough with the …show more content…
They may never be able to come back from it or they will I believe that it was dreadful and they made a mistake. They took it off of social media and also apologized to the public, it might not what an apology should have looked like but they still apologized. The ad will never go away and it shows lots of negatives and brought the negatives to social media as well. All ads shouldn’t focus on the background of it and needs to focus on the actual product they are trying to sell because they will not get any buyers with the ads they are putting out there
