In the 21st century companies display the human body in a provocative manner with nudity on billboards and advertisements in magazines. As a person looks at an advertisement for perfume or nail polish, the eyes go straight to the naked body of the model. When seeing the beautiful, sexy model with the beauty products, the buyer falls in the trap of buying the products believing that they will also feel beautiful and sexy. They want to seek the pleasure the model exhibits while wearing the product. The consumer sees a beautiful model with a perfect body that most women would love to attain. This nail polish advertisement illustrates that by going topless without a top coat on your nail polish, the consumers can also “Go Topless” without clothing. Sofia Vergara looks as if she enjoys going topless with her hands across her breast. This type of propaganda, called the testimonial, relates a celebrity with a product (McClintock 234).Since a celebrity approves of this product; the buyer will feel safe using it on their own body. Sofia Vergara looks glamorous with a natural gold eye and a nude lip color. When looking at this advertisement, the observer’s eyes will go straight to the model trying to cover up her breast with her hands. If the bottles of fingernail polish were not on the bottom of the page, many readers would have a difficult time trying to figure out what the company is trying to sell. Why do the companies associate a naked body with finger nail polish? If a magazine ad only contained a single hand with painted fingernails, it would not attract anyone’s attention. Readers stop and look at things that pop out to them, like Sofia Vergara’s bare chest. The viewers could feel disrespected, seeing a naked woman trying to cover up her breasts.
