Middle Adulthood

Developmental period beginning at about 40 to 60-65.



A time of declining physical skills and expanding responsibility.



Balancing of work and relationship responsibilities in the midst of physical/psychological changes bc of aging.

Climacteric

Midlife transition in which fertility declines.

Menopause

Complete cessation of a womans menatrual cycles. Usually occurs in late forties/fifties

Sarcopenia

Age related loss of muscle mass and strength

More likely to be caused by combined effects of several chronic conditions.



Cancer, then cardiovascular disease.

Main cause of death?

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)

Augments declining levels of reproductive hormone production by the ovaries.

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)

Can improve sexual functioning, muscle strength, bone health.

Male hypogonadism

Increases throughout bc its semantic in nature. Long term

Ability to perform simple math computations like addition, subtraction, multiplication.

Ability to recognize and understand patterns and relationships in a problem and use this understanding to solve other instances of the problem
