According to numerous university studies, additional work has consistently proven to be a crucial link to academic success. Therefore, all students should have homework each night to support the skills taught during the school day, improve academic discipline, and help districts improve standardized test scores. As anyone who has ever mastered a skill knows, the learning process requires repeated practice in order to retain, and effectively utilize new information. In a 2010 investigation conducted by Dr. Frank McFrankerson of Yale University, it was found that students who spent more than 20 hours a week completing homework enjoyed a 25% greater GPA than those who did not make the same time investment (5).…

There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…

There are so many reasons people are pro homework. People say “it helps them become smarter or helps them on test,” But there is a lack of evidence where it actually supports their claims, that it helps students at all especially at such a young age. with Alfie Khon “The positive effects of homework are largely mythical.”(Khon). It also seems that homework is being forced onto younger students more often than the older ones. The practical effects are also demonstrated, as teachers do need to take the time in class for students to cover large chunks of the material. At the age of these students, providing responsibility and incentive to do well in school will be important for the rest of their lives as homework will be assigned in college and essentially one will have homework for their career as well. Teaching students now to engage in their homework and see a purpose in it will enhance learning and quicken the pace of school, so that less time is spent in class re-teaching what was previously assigned. As with anything in life, practice is the only way to get better at something and this is why homework is an important tool in schools. It provides time to practice important material outside of school so that when one comes back the following day, they have improved.…
