If there’s a school, then there’s homework. When will we get rid of this stuff? Because there is no proven benefits, harm is done to these kids, and it results in lower grades. Schools should just completely stop giving out homework. We should be done tormenting kids with homework. According to, “No Proven Benefits” by Alfie Kohn, there really are no benefits. Kids get so frustrated by their homework that they get exhausted and are forced to miss after-school activities. This is unfortunate because parents pay a lot of money for sports and instrument lessons. The other annoying thing is that teachers give out extra homework as a disciplinary system, which could also mess up the kids after school schedule. Teachers also give out rewards for doing extra homework which would make kids miss even more extracurricular activities. In the end homework just doesn’t cooperate for kids busy schedules.

At home, kids might not be able to complete homework because the supplies needed like textbooks or computers cost money and kids lack the correct supplies. This would be really irritating, especially if money is tight for parents. Since kids have such compact schedules they will either rush the homework or even just not do it and get detention because of it. Although homework is a chance to bump up your grade, it just never goes as the teacher plans. Homework will just never work for these kids.

Homework absolutely needs to be abolished. This stuff has no positive benefits, it’s mentally and physically harmful, and it causes atrocious grades. Do you want this to happen to your kids? Stand up and say something, get homework banned before your kids get

First of all, homework causes stress on students. We may as well just spend all day at school if we are having school at home anyways. Students should go to school, work on “school” work, then come home and not do “school” work at home. This would increase the productivity and attitudes of students. I, for one, would be in a much better mood concerning school if I knew that I didn’t have to look forward to coming home to more school work.…

If kids didn’t have to worry about getting certain assignments done for the next day, I do agree with Darter that, kids would have more time to be kids. In her article Darter refers to a study done at Duke University. The study showed that “all it does is negatively impact kids’ attitudes towards school, learning, and their parents(the homework enforcers).” This research shows, not proves, that homework does have an effect on studies ability to do well in…

Students should not have to deal with several hours of homework every night. Students need to focus on more important things such as friends, family, reading for pleasure, or playing sports. The work that is assigned most of the time is busy work and is not helping the child. Students deserve to not have learning become a bad thing because of the fact that the things that are really important to them are being limited. Homework should be banned because it is starting to affect what kids love.…

“Available international data indicates that there is no clear-cut evidence that increased homework leads to improved test scores” (Penn). Unfortunately, elementary, middle, and high schools across America disagree. Some school districts think the more homework, the better test scores will be, however, that is not the case. Most students struggle with the large workload given to them to complete at home. Homework is harmful to students.…

For these reasons, I have chosen the side that supports the idea that homework should be banned. One reason homework should be banned is for the health problems it causes. This author states some of the health problems caused by homework,“ We found clear connection between the students’ stress and physical impacts -- migraines, ulcers and other stomach problems, sleep deprivation and exhaustion, and weight loss (Enayati)...”, this shows some of the health problems caused by homework. Lots of these symptoms happen when students are in middle school through high school. Students during these school years have more problems with homework than kids in other grades specifically because they are growing.…

With all of the stress that is already coming from school, homework only emphasizes that. There should be less homework because it takes up students time, causes a lot of stress, and causes many personal and social problems. A primary reason that students have less free time is that teachers assign an excessive amount of homework. Some students have said “Homework is all I have time for; there’s never…

Another key point is sleep, kids needs sleep, and keeping them up doing hours of homework just make it worse. Even some of the students said that they were having sleep deprivation because of their homework. One parent said, “What is a parent supposed to do when a child has to be up at 6:30 a.m. to get to school on time and doesn 't get home until 6 p.m. and then has hours of homework? You can take away all the electronics you want (but not really, as all homework is assigned and submitted online), but if there simply aren 't enough hours in the day and too much homework it becomes a far bigger issue than one individual family.” (Margolies)…
