I have lived in Teaneck, New Jersey all my life. I’ve been surrounded by many of the same people for the past 18 years. The people who know me well would describe me as kind and creative. The first thing the people who don't know me well would say that I am quiet. That is not who I am or who I want to be remembered as. I think of myself as kind, open minded, and intelligent. I don't think of myself as quite. I want to be heard. I want to have a voice. I want to be remembered for the good acts that I do and the impact that I have on people's lives. I want to make change. I think that as long as you live in this world, then things that are going on across the world should matter to you. When something interferes with your life or is a just popular topic then it is important to have an opinion. One thing I have strong opinions on is schools and education. It bothers me to see students get a bad education just because of them having bad teachers or being in a bad school system. I believe everybody has a right to a good education. It is a big pet peeve of mine to see students begin to hate school due to the lack of effort and care a teacher has put in a classroom. Seeing this pushed me to want to become a high school teacher. I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I remember every year when I would go to Jordan to visit my family in the summer; my grandfather always asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up. I always told him that I wanted to be a teacher. My answer never changed. But as I grew older I realized I wanted to be a high school teacher. Younger students always seem excited to go to school and to learn. As students get older you begin to see that they don't like school anymore. The excitement is gone. I want to change that.
