The trinity is made up of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Many people question why God the Father is the first person that makes up the trinity. The three reasons we learned in class why Father is first in the trinity is: if there is a son then there is a father, Jesus called God the Father “Father”, and God the Father has many characteristics of fatherhood. The Trinity started with God the Father and life starts with a “Father” and we are his children whom he made us all equal and all in his own image.God the Father is meant to be the beginning love which is why he is the first person of the Trinity. It only makes sense that the Trinity starts with the Father then to the Son and the Holy Spirit.
First, God the Father has many characteristics of fatherhood. Having a son which is Jesus who he sent down to earth to die for our sins gives God the Father one attribute of fatherhood. “I will offer my son whom I love beyond words. I will see him be broken and rejected and killed. I, who have known only perfect oneness with him through eternity, will take on the anguish estrangement I will know the broken heart of a father.” (Ortberg p.67). In this quote God the Father says he will feel the pain of a human father and live with the pain that his son Jesus Christ will be crucified on the cross for the sins of others.
