The birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus altered and transformed the world by revealing the nature of God to humanity, providing a pattern for a Christian life, and by atoning for the sins of the world. AME Churches are the underdogs, the strugglers we are the people who still come out of the fight alive. That strength, that will to survive comes from the force behind our church’s history and where everything started- Mother Bethel and Richard Allen. The Church was designed to be safe haven for slaves to give us a piece of freedom with religion. We weren’t allowed to praise God with caucasians, then let’s set out and make something for ourselves, nothing can stop us from praising our Savior. I feel like that was Allen’s mindset when he decided to make the first AME Church, because he was prepared to fight for his people so they could worship freely.…

In 2016, Bethany Baptist Church celebrates eighty-four years of ministry in the Highlands area of Louisville. The church’s peak membership of more than 1,100 people occurred in the 1970’s, during the ministry of the senior pastor with the longest tenure at Bethany—a tenure of twenty-four years. From 1986 to 2010, the church saw five senior pastors come and go, with an average pastoral tenure of less than four years. At the time of my call to serve as senior pastor in 2011, much work had recently been done to ensure that membership rolls were up to date and accurate. The church’s membership stood at approximately 230 people, with an average attendance of 105 people in Sunday morning worship services.…

This is part of the Catholic mystery that is taught to us ever since we are little. It is still hard for people to understand the Blessed Trinity even after hearing about it repeatedly. Jesus is God because He performed some miracles, like when He turned water into wine at the wedding at Cana. Another miracle Jesus performed was when He made Lasiurus rise from the dead. Jesus was also able to forgive the sins of His disciples.…

In 1 Corinthians 8:6 it says, “yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” That verse addresses God as being a father, and that Jesus Christ is the Lord. In Colossians 2:9 it says, “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,” Jesus was not just a plain, ordinary human that God took control of to do His bidding. He was/is God in the flesh, with all the authority and power of God in Heaven and the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit as it is often referred to is the other part of the Trinity.…
