Cheating is wrong, but for students to jeopardize their integrity, there must be a legitimate reason. To get into a college or university, a high ACT score and GPA are necessary. Students find ways to bring in cheat sheets or program special applications onto their calculators in order to do the best they can. But …show more content…
For subjects such as science or history it is simple- make flash cards and continuously quiz. But how do you (is this an okay use?) study for math or grammar? When I was a freshman in high school, I was in an Advanced Honors Algebra II class. This was the first math class that had ever challenged me. When I got my first test grade back, I was quite unhappy with the less than par grade I had received. Technology today allows students to easily access information that may be used to plagiarize on their school work and exams. In light of the problems with plagiarism, honor codes and systems have become increasingly popular to prohibit the amount of cheating in schools. While my school currently has an honor code, it would be better to revise it so the student culture regarding the code will improve and to ensure that students desire to succeed and do well on their work. To begin, student culture regarding the honor codes at their schools is essential because it determines whether or not the rules would be taken seriously. There may be an honor code that is strictly enforced, but if students have no part of the process and are only punished,…

In the article “Why I Think Students Should Cheat,” Cevin Soling (2015) argues that even though cheating is wrong, there are many advantages. Students are taught that cheating is wrong because it impacts self-esteem through unearned rewards and stimulates bad habits. However, these points are not valid considering the environment students are put in, where failure is not an option. It can be overwhelming and draw students to take the easy way out, cheating. According to the author, cheating should be done by all students in compulsory schools because it can boost self-esteem, confidence and instill pride.…

Upon examination of this sample, the conclusion states that downloading media files is wrong. The premise for this conclusion focuses on the idea that stealing is morally wrong (Morrow & Weston 444). However, these two concepts progressively become more convoluted as the argument continues. The evidence in the form of analogies functions as a way to prove that stealing is morally wrong. By doing so, the premise that stealing is morally wrong, becomes a conclusion.…

However, the pressure to succeed in a classroom setting has become so intense that some students have begun cheating for a variety of reasons. Although I have never cheated myself, I can honestly see the appeal in taking shortcuts when deadlines pile up with no end in sight. Critics of those who cheat can easily point at a cheating student and discuss how poor of a student they are, but the critics never stop to consider the amount of pressure a student truly is under. Cheating has always been considered a terrible act that shows poor character, however, what acts are considered cheating and are not are often fuzzy to students.…

I personally don’t think Georgia made a good decision because, cheating is wrong. Although it may not have harmed anyone, but the test grade you get is showing what the other person knows not what you know. Cheating is wrong because later on in life you will need to know the stuff you’re taking a test on and next time someone might not be there to cheat off of. Mary Frances Winters once said “Do not let others put labels on you that do not fit. Know yourself and be true to yourself.” Labeling a certain person with a term or phrase can have a negative or positive impact on them. However, certain labels remain in one’s life forever in which getting rid of the labels is hard. Similarly, at age 13 I was labeled as a “cheater” by my administrators and my assistant principal Mrs. Wilkins.…

Morality is what we, as humans, have and use to separate the good from the bad and the right from the wrong. Growing up, we are taught that cheating is bad, that we shouldn’t cheat, and if we do, bad repercussions can evolve from doing so. Due to this, the idea that cheating is bad is instilled into our personal moral (or also referred to as honor) code. So the question arises, after many years of developing our notions of what is right and wrong, why do people still cheat and commit acts of dishonesty? Many times there are results that the come from the bad action committed, that are seen as a reward for that person.…
