Cheating is acting unscrupulously to obtain a goal. Particularly in schools cheating refers to committing plagiarism. A student may plagiarize or copy and take credit for someone else’s work. For instance, a student found glancing at a classmate's assignment and duplicating the work to their own paper would be considered a cheater. Some other examples of cheating include: using hidden notes, giving or acquiring test information before the exam, failing to appropriately cite a source and more. When you allow someone to use your knowledge and your work or conversely this is perceived as a deviant act and both are culpable of cheating. Behaviorism highlights the environmental impact on observable behavior. Behaviorists assist that people learn by operant conditioning in which we learn from consequences or punishment and reinforcement. Students that do well in school are often rewarded positively and those that don’t get punished. People want to perform well and be recognized, and cheating provides an easier way for them to achieve that goal. Sociocultural perspective studies how culture and other influence one’s behavior. The tendency to evaluate students in schools based on their test and classroom grades pressures students to want to perform better and when they can’t they cheat. Society imposes the lot of expectations on students such as doing extracurricular activities, community service, and homework. All this is time-consuming for students, especially in high school, have to perform these tasks in order to be a valuable candidate for university admissions. When students don’t have enough time to study or do their homework they lean on their peers for help, they copy from others because it's all about the grades, what matters is whether they turned in the
