Why Cheating Is Bad

Mary Frances Winters once said “Do not let others put labels on you that do not fit. Know yourself and be true to yourself.” Labeling a certain person with a term or phrase can have a negative or positive impact on them. However, certain labels remain in one’s life forever in which getting rid of the labels is hard. Similarly, at age 13 I was labeled as a “cheater” by my administrators and my assistant principal Mrs. Wilkins. However, who gave them the special power to judge me and my abilities? My 8th grade year in which no one believed that I cheated except for Mrs.Wilkins and Ms. Fridstrom. Being accused as a cheater helped me grow as a strong person, as I learned that in life you can’t accept what others give you. Instead, you should learn …show more content…
I wanted to prove how I was innocent and I didn’t commit cheating. The only way I could prove my innocence was by taking a different test and not stepping back from my words. “I am not wrong and if you guys continue to suspect me, you can make me retake the test in order to prove my innocence.” I stated to my teacher and assistant principal. The only way to prove myself right is to retake the test and pass it with a good grade. I wanted equality for myself and the reputation that I created for the past three years. I wanted them to know how my morality doesn’t allow me to cheat instead makes me fight for my rights. “It’s funny how I am fighting for equality in a school where it claims to be equal. As you can see, my innocence and justice that I wanted was going to be proven in this test that I was going to

Compliance or Empowerment "Zero tolerance" for weapons in schools seems like a reasonable cut and dry policy for schools to enforce to keep their campuses’ safe. The problem with any “zero tolerance” policy is that it leaves no room of extenuating circumstances. This week’s case study is a prime example of where a “zero tolerance” policy might not be the best disciplinary action. School principals are charged with carrying out federal, state, and district policies. In some situations this can even mean upholding the law.…

It was like any other school day, coming back from lunch, sitting in class, and talking to friends; however, it all changed once I arrived in my American Studies class. Mrs. Forbs was standing in front of the class waiting for everyone to quiet down. The class was a bunch of sixth graders, so it took a while to make us be silent. The day felt weird for me, I had my same robotic schedule but for some reason something didn’t feel right. I thought it had something to do with the food I ate for lunch, I would be prepared to head down to the bathroom or even nurse if that was the case; however, what happened that day no sixth grader would be able to prepare for.…

The objective of my classmates’ social boycott for the past three months is me. Even though I hold no position of power, or any sort of outstanding feature, other than wearing a hijab, I greet each school day with a smile to their hardened side glances. I suppose that after finding out that one of my friends had the answer key to a Latin final exam, one that had the entire junior year class anxious and jumpy, rebuking her for offering it to me and for even having possession of it in the first place, and then advising her to get rid of it, must have made me a target to her darts of suspicion on who told the administration about the cheated Latin final exam incident. The night before this debacle of the year, most of my Latin class members and…

At the time, I didn’t think that I was as smart or as hardworking as they were. As stated in the reading, “Beliefs have to do with what is true or not” (page 3). At that point in time, regardless of what others thought or wondering whether by beliefs were true or not, I believed that I wasn’t good enough. This in turn affected the self-labels that I’ve implemented for myself, which “play a role in shaping our self-concept” (page 9). By thinking negatively about myself, it affected some of the actions I did around my friends.…
