Why Abortion Should Not Be Legal

Over the years many women have fought for their rights in this world, some women even dying for these rights. So when people wanted to overturn a decision that supported women’s right it was an uproar. Women fought for this decision to remain legal because it was there right. The right to keep abortion legal should not be made by the old white men sitting in office who do not relate to women in today 's society. The choice to have an abortion is not an easy decision for women to make therefore when women make the decision they should not be ambushed about making such a decision. Medical issues, women 's rights, and historical court cases are all reasons that abortion should be legal.

Hence revoking the right for a women to make the choice to abort her child so it does not suffer is insensitive. Many women find having an abortion to be the optimal choice. Trisomy 18 is an abnormality in the number of chromosomes a child has.("Trisomy 18.") Many children with this illness die within the first year of their life due to the medical problems associated with it: “Due to presence of life threatening medical problems, many individuals with Trisomy 18 die before birth or within their first month 's.”("Trisomy 18.") Making the child suffer and having to pay for the disabled child is not the most ideal situation for a woman or child to be in. Demonstrating why abortion is sometimes the best alternative for women in this situation.
Abortion should be legal because many women in the US have fought for years for women to have equal rights and limiting their rights to abortions revokes equal rights for women. Women are treated different then men on a daily basis in this country because the simple fact that they are a women. Making abortion illegal and only the choice of the women involved are supported by cases such as Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood v. Danforth and Doe v. Bolton. These cases help support the idea that women should have the right to have an abortion and that is solely their own

In those times many slaves would have babies with other slaves who live in the same plantation or house as them. During this time abortion was illegal for both white and black women so that babies would continue to be born in order for the white supremacy to continue: “ Abortion was taken away from both slaves and white women to maintain the system of white supremacy.”("Why Abortion Should Be Legal.) So why would Americans take a issues that was made illegal in order to maintain white supremacy and make it legal again. Women have fundamental rights to an abortion therefore it should be legal for them to have them: “Abortion is a “Fundamental Right”.("Why Abortion Should Be Legal.) As a country our government has no right to take that right away from women. If making abortion illegal was a way of making white supremacy possible back in the day then Americans should not make it illegal today since Americans all have equal rights in today 's
