Whoopi Goldberg has a net worth of $45 million. She was born and was given the name Caryn Elaine Johnson on November 13, 1955 in Manhattan, New York. Her father abandoned her and her mother, leaving her to be raised by a single mother with her brother, her mother worked a lot of jobs to help support them, and they grew up in poor neighborhoods. Goldberg has been married and divorced three times, and has been involved with two other celebrities; she has one child with with her first ex-husband. She is an author, singer, political activist, talk show host, actress, and comedian.

She was a fan of "Star Trek" as a child, especially because of Uhura, because it was a black character that was not a maid. Goldberg dropped out of high school to pursue an acting career, and because her dyslexia made it hard for her to keep going through school. To support herself, she worked from home as a phone sex operator. She started acting in a New York theater when she was only eight years old; she even did some acting in Germany in the late 70s and early 80s.

Acting is where the bulk of her net worth comes from. She has been in many movies and television shows in her multiple decade long career.
