It’s not easy to change. At times in life it’s necessary to change something we many not necessarily want to change. I for one, am very stubborn. When I get comfortable and settled into a routine, I like to stay in it. While reading Who Moved My Cheese I understand exactly how these poor mice felt. They knew if they kept running down the different corridors eventually they would find that delicious cheese. The very thing they searched endlessly for. When they found it, they were so happy and able to relax and savor the cheese, life was good for them then. However, running around through the maze looking for the cheese not finding it caused them to panic. When the cheese disappears what do we do? These authors question how workplace habits affect productivity in the workplace. They found that, “worker attitudes directly affected behavior and thus overall productivity.” (Webber, Ser, Goussak 2015, p.41). Similar to how the little people Hem and Haw where in Who Moved My Cheese. It’s hard having a good attitude when something you are used to finding on a daily basis is suddenly gone. Part of life is realizing that things change. How we act and respond to the change, tells us more about ourselves. Change to me is hard. While I enjoyed reading Who Moved My Cheese I think I would be leery if suddenly the place I worked handed out copies for us to read. I understood that the book was about change and adapting to those changes. I like how (Johnson 2002) put it into an easy level of mice searching for cheese.
