I have played soccer for most of my life, however at the age of 17, I wasn’t as good as I wanted to be. I wasn’t as small or fast as I was a few years before. I had gained some weight and slowed down a lot. I was going to have to become a lot more skillful since I could no longer out run my opponents. First of all, you would think that all the years that my team had been together, we would be the best team in the league, but that was not the case. We were a group of skillful players that couldn’t work together. I couldn’t stay off the bench, due to my lack of conditioning and skill. I couldn’t stand not playing the game I love and I knew something had to change. To begin with, I had to work a lot harder to increase certain aspects of my game to make up for where I lacked. Since I wasn’t as fast as I used to be, I had to become way more technical. I went to the soccer fields every day after school to practice. On the days my team had practice, I was there an hour early and I stayed an hour after everyone left. Then I had to do something about my speed. I knew I wasn’t going to be as fast I was back then. So I had to grow somewhere else in able to advance my game. I needed to become stronger so that I wasn’t being pushed around on the field. Whenever I wasn’t at the soccer field practicing I was at the gym. In the meantime, my team was barely squeezing by losing just as much as we won. With the season coming to a close, our chances of the post season were slipping away.…
