In grade 11 I had the done sweater of the swim team, taking the reasonability to make the Rick Hasen swim team look good, In the grade 12 the swim was unorganized, there for i was able to receive captaincy of the team, which then allowed me to create proper swim sets, and teach individuals certain strokes, this then created a more organized team which then made the swimmers perform at a higher level at Ropsaa. Another example is, when I am coaching my students, I use proper techniques, and proper methods to train my swimmer, when doing so this allows my swimmers to perform better at swim meets. Creating a bond with the swimmers not only allowed me to be a good coach but also to be a friend for my swimmer, where they would open to talk to me about things that go on in there life.…

I have volunteered at the Special Olympics for the past 4 years and it has drastically changed my outlook on life. All of the athletes are so joyous just to be there and compete. Even if they don't place, when they receive that participation ribbon the smile on their faces and and the excitement bubbling out of them makes my heart cry with happiness. Because of those experiences, I try every day to look at everything in life as precious and valuable. No matter how small an experience may be, even if someone just says hello or gives me a free drink at McDonald's, I strive to display the same joy and appreciation as the Special Olympic athletes do.…

One achievement that I will not forget anytime soon is my trip as an ambassador for USA Hockey to Moscow, Russia during my freshman year. Through an application process and essay, I was one of five male hockey payers selected from California and one of twenty selected overall to represent the United States in an exchange program the two countries. I will always be grateful for the opportunity I had to not only represent my country, but also have a first-hand experience with a completely different culture. I spent a week training with my peers, both American and Russian, alongside Russian Olympic coaches. I also had to privilege to tour Moscow with various government officials and learned about Russia’s rich history in ways I would have never…

I watched the ''Making a Difference Through the Special Olympics'' video. To me the purpose of the speech was to influence and persuade others to get involved and to become a volunteer for the Special Olympics. I believe the speaker was very effective in this speech. She was organized and new the information she was specking about. In the introduction she gave an amazing story about the Seattle Special Olympics and how every athlete involved wasn’t there for national attention, but instead ''the opportunity to flourish under the glow of their own spotlight.''…

I have really enjoyed working with the Special Olympic athletes on Thursday nights this semester. Week after week, I am so humbled to be able to spend time with these students, as they always remind me to appreciate and celebrate the little things in life. Along with that, it has been so fun to develop relationships with these individuals. I love listening to them tell stories about what has been happening in their lives throughout the past week. This movement offers children and adults with and without intellectual disabilities year-round sports training and competition. As a volunteer swim timer for the special Olympics my duties consisted of interacting with all participants and coaches. By interacting with most of all coaches and participants, I learned a lot about the leadership of the program and the athletes that competed. However, the focus of this event was to bring awareness to SMSU and to everyone involved, from athletes and their families, to coaches and volunteers.…

    - For my program I collaborated with UNC Walk for Health Organization for the 96 Years of Healthy Long-Living Prep High School Basketball Game held on April 9th 2016 at Chapel Hill High School. Let me begin, by explaining what UNC Walk for Health is all about. UNC Walk for Health is a two-person organization, co-founded two years ago by Bobby Gersten (UNC’s oldest living athlete) and William Thorpe to raise awareness of and provide practical solutions to chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity and cancer. Anything, but that lame sport.” I bet everyone would rather watch the Cleveland Browns lose to a high school football team or even watch Donald Trump play golf for the whole day than watch a single boring cricket game. B. Reason to Listen: It has become a meme to insult the sport of cricket, and rightfully so. Cricket is not popular sport in America, and it will never be accepted as a major sport.…
