I want to be a member of the National Honor Society because it is an excellent program with no “bad side”. NHS is a great way to give back to the community, it looks good on college applications and scholarships, it allows me to be a leader, and it is just what the name implies- an honor. Along with all the good it does, it is not too much of a commitment. I am a teenager in high school and have a busy life- adding another extracurricular activity to my plate can become overwhelming. However, NHS would allow me to help my community and future without forcing me to give up the life I have- I can get service hours doing what I enjoy and learn more about myself by trying new things.…

The four pillars of National Honor Society- scholarship, leadership, service, and character- have almost solely shaped my development. I pride myself in being true to all four of these pillars, in both my daily life, as well as who I am overall. I feel as if each of these virtues represents a fourth of who I hope I am; someone who values learning, is a fair leader, dedicates herself to her community, and leads a moral life. My high school career has been stressful because it is an immense amount of work to excel in each of these categories, but I couldn't be happier with where that work has put me. I am proud to be the person I am today.…

People do this in many different ways such as taking prestigious classes, participating in clubs, sports, music groups, and a variety of other activities. I made the decision for myself to participate in sports throughout my high school journey and I could not be happier at the achievements we have made through teamwork over the past four years.
