Preparing for the championship game was a struggle, physically and mentally. We all put in hard work, and were determined to win. Our basketball team hadn’t won a championship game since 1992. It was my senior year and my last shot at redemption against the defending champs. The whole season we only lost one game, we were projected to lose, and we were the underdogs. We had one week left to prepare for what was the largest game of my high school career. Monday’s practice was the worst of the week, we only ran and shot free throws. Tuesday came and everyone was sore, so we all just focused on our fundamentals. Passing, shooting, defense and rebounding were the main things we worked on. Along with that I play intramural for a division three team. Playing with the people here brings me new experiences every day. Even though I know just about everything there is to know about basketball they teach me new things, not about basketball, but how different people play it everywhere. When I played in the Upper Peninsula not a lot of people would “talk trash.” It was a whole new way of playing by just talking. At first I thought they were just trying to offend me, but now I know that they were just trying to get in my head. Even if you are mean to someone on the court, that doesn’t mean you can’t be friends off the court. I meet most of my friends playing basketball, because they usually like everything I do. Basketball is getting harder to play because now that I’m in college I have a lot more responsibilities, but whenever I get to stressed out I know I can just go down to the basketball court and have fun. Even if I can’t go to the basketball courts, I can usually at least watch it on the
