The Thrill of the Buzzer The colors of red and white dominated the gym. I looked around and saw Pennridge colors faded behind the Reading fans. It was the Pennridge Men’s Basketball team’s first ever appearance in a PIAA State game. The team played in front of a crowd of 4,200 people. Most of those people were rooting against us. It was a game where the margin of error had to be minimal because a loss would end our season. I was slightly nervous, but I enjoyed the spotlight too, especially being the underdog. It was a good game even though we trailed behind Reading for most of the game. Then the momentum of the game began to shift, causing the score to become close going into the final few minutes. Our team had become known as a team that fights and never gives up. However, it did not look like the game would go in favor of Pennridge. Our starting point guard went down with an injury, we were still down by a few points, and the odds were stacking up against us. We had a challenge to face, and we fought hard. Our team was able to take advantage of a few …show more content…
It is hard to comprehend the fact that I might never play in a basketball game in front of 4,200 fans again. Now that I can look back at it, I realize that could have been the last experience. Although I am eager to go further into the tournament this year, it will be an extremely hard task to accomplish. When I stepped into that gym, I stopped for a second. I glanced at each sideline in addition to all the bleachers surrounding us. My jaw dropped in amazement. I wanted to capture the moment and not forget it! Our coach told our team to seize the moment and that the memory will last forever. Even if you are not on a basketball court ready to play a state playoff game, there will always be moments that you can take in the experience and keep the memories

The game did not start the way we wanted it, we played terrible the first four innings, making many errors and mental mistakes that cost runs. “Game Day” isn’t a regular day at Xavier University of Louisiana; it’s a day for Xavier’s Golden Nugget’s to defend their pride, while we cast our wide angel lens towards the basketball court, capturing the engulfing reflection pool in all of its pride. Athletics are a big part to most universities and students’ life. Either they love to participate or some love to go and cheer their peers and colleagues on. I learned this while working at a Xavier’s Women basketball game. I wanted to see my fellow students in a less stressed atmosphere, rather than a classroom. My interest was also peaked because I watched basketball games in high school…

We won that game because of all the hard work we put into trying to win that game. And even though we were down 5 points at one time, the team and I did not let that bother us so we came back and won. To this day I haven't hit a home run since because of the difficulty for me to do it, but, I always remember, Put the ball in play and good things will happen. It's my motto to this day and I keep my home run ball on my dresser to in fact prove, that I can achieve that goal if I set my mind to…

We had our heads in the game and pulled out the first few points. As the game went on, we were back and fourth. I had my personal record for blocks and hits against a team that I was so nervous for. As I played my front row rotation and was going to sub out for someone to come in and serve for me , my coach informed me that I would be serving. Alpena had 18 points, and TC West had somewhere extremely close to that.…

I live day to day, going through the works: wake up at the ungodly hour of six A.M., make it through my classes, two hours of volleyball, finally go home, repeat. But, in between all of the rushing, the yelling, the stress of high school, is when I get to relax. It’s when I get to forget about school, or as I call it “college auditions” and when I can just have a nice time without having to weigh the pros and cons of every thing I do. Every day, after the last bell rings, I navigate through the throngs of intimidating upperclassmen. It’s like The Hunger Games, stay calm, keep your head down, and try not to piss anyone off.…

The first time I learned basketball was when I am at the 6th grade when my physical education teacher registered me in a basketball summer camp. I used to be a shy and quiet girl but since joining the summer camp I started to socialize and have friends. After two months of learning basketball, I began to like it. Then, I started playing basketball in high school as part of my school’s team and I’ve been playing ever since. It started out as just an activity, and then became a hobby that’s something fun to do but later on, I found that I really like basketball.…
