During the decades of coketown industrialization, profits flowed to the factory-owners, and wealthy entrepreneurs who made up a small portion of society. As a result, workers worked in harsh conditions, and faced constant poverty. The significance of Fordism is that it gave workers higher wages, spreading the prosperity of industrialization to the masses, and marking the beginning of consumerism. J. R. McNeill describes this best when he writes in his book Something New Under the Sun “Ford saw that sharing these gains with his workers suited his own interests…he paid laborers enough to buy a Model-T… They enjoyed an affluence and leisure that in the nineteenth century would have required an army of household servants” (Pgs 316 & 317).…
Good or bad, no one could deny Henry’s impact on society. One of Henry’s greatest economic achievements and, at the same time, his worst implementation of a social indignation, occurred over the same event. Ford Motor Company, the pillar of Detroit strength and perceived by many to be invincible, was at one time on the verge of bankruptcy. Henry, in an effort to save the company, applied to several major banks for desperately needed capital to continue operations.…
he accomplishments of Henry Ford Henry Ford invented one of the most important part of most peoples lives. Ford was known for his production of the motor vehicles which is now widely produced in the United States, but what he really did was change and encourage the technology in the United States for the rest of his life. The Great Depression is also related back to the Roaring Twenties not only because of the rise is sales of everyday household products but also because of the new inventions. These new inventions included the automobile, the making of movies, radios, and chemical industries which convert raw materials such as oil, natural gas, air, water, metals, and minerals. The main thing was the manufacturing of cars. Cars were only for the “rich and famous” and were very expensive. Henry Ford began making cheap cars known as Model T’s.…

Ford’s goals were primarily economic. Gerald Ford wanted to curb inflation because costs for goods were getting out of hand. In addition he vetoed 39 non-military bills just to focus on the economy. Once Gerald Ford had finished working on inflation, he then focused on the recession that was occurring in the economy. He also helped businesses in America by trying to reduce taxes.…
I wish that Douglas Brinkley had spent more time delving into Henry Ford’s childhood, what Henry Ford was doing while he was being accused for being on the Nazi’s side during World War ll, and if anyone else tried the five-dollar-a-day-wage. To begin, I feel as of the biography would have been better if it had more information about Henry Ford’s childhood. I found from my other research that Ford spent most of his childhood in a one room school and doing farm chores. Knowing that from previous research, it would be useful to know how he performed in school. Next, I really would have wanted to know what Henry Ford was doing while he was being thought to be on the Nazi’s side(449-451).…
Same as Carnegie, Ford is also a philanthropist. He treats his workers with dignity and respect, in a recent interview with him, Ford mentioned, “Burdening people with debt is an old deal not a new deal” (Henry Ford). He pays his employs a good amount so they can get the necessities and pay off their debt. In the interview he also mentions, “The only true test of values, either of man or of things, is that of their ability to make the world a better place in which to live” (Henry Ford). Ford stated a foundation called the Ford Foundation, he started this so he, himself could make the world a better place.…
Because of these issues there was a large controversy surrounding the automobile in the 1920s. This controversy is illustrated by the humorist Will Rogers’ remark, “Good luck, Mr.Ford. it will take a hundred years to tell whether you have helped or hurt us, but you certainly didn’t leave us like you found…

If there was ever an opportunity to change something that happened in the United States’ history I’m not sure that I would change anything. Because although it is not ideal, both the mistakes and successes we have made in history make our society what it is today. However, one of the many important steps made in history to aid in the progress to a better future was made by Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company. Without Ford’s innovations, not nearly as many people would be able to afford automobiles, which have become essential utilities in the average American’s lifestyle.…
Cesar Laboy Mr. Berardelli, p. 3 Honors American Cultures 11, 6.0 3 December, 2014 Title Although Henry Ford did not invent the automobile, he made it a common thing to have one. By using a method of mass production, he found it easy to produce automobiles at a faster rate for a low cost.…
The impact that Henry Ford made on transportation is one of the only reasons the United States grew and prospered so much at the time. Ford wanted to sell an automobile that anyone could afford to buy. He said “It will be constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the simplest designs that modern engineering can devise.” On October 1, 1908, the first automobile that Ford Motor Company made was completed. This first automobile was the Model T, it was sold for $825, or about $18,000 in today’s world.…
During this time period, the marketplace, as well as the idea of mass production and mass consumption, has gradually become more and more prevalent in the American culture. This time period also marks a time of innovation, most notably the invention of improved motor vehicle models by none other than Henry Ford, a prominent figure in the novel who serves as an alternate God to the citizens of the World State. People would criticize Huxley for satirizing Ford, a man who they would have respected at the time. Some might even feel offended by Huxley’s depiction of the citizens and their treatment of Ford as God, using phrases like “Our Ford” and making a “T” gesture in place of the sign of the cross. Many would have questioned or even challenged Huxley’s theme, finding it controversial for the novel’s use of pornographic scenes and disturbing detail of inhumane practice that degraded humanity.…
It has been relatively known that a society cannot prosper without the careful consideration of the past when making decisions for the future and Andrew Carnegie strongly believed that. “Because Andrew’s lifetime spanned two worlds, before and after mechanization, his actions continuously manifested an ambivalence rooted in his double exposure to the old world among the cottages, glens, and firths of Scotland and the new world among of smoky factories in America.” (Andrew Carnegie 13) Most of his actions as a businessman demonstrated mastery of the techniques of investment found in modern industrial practice while his attitudes towards politics, society, culture, and even the ownership structure of his business exhibited the Old World ideas…
