Whether they were under or over me did not make a difference, I still had to treat them decent even though their wellbeing seemed to be irrelevant to the completion of the mission at hand. This mindset was emplaced when I was a young manger but as time grew, and I began to pursue becoming a better leader, I felt that I was missing something. As I grew closer with my work crew so did my care and concern for them. I noticed that their commitment to me as well as the organization began to increase. It was evident a significant change had affected the workplace, the more I cared and looked out for the crew’s wellbeing the more they did the same for me. What I would feel was important, they felt was important, the more important something was to them, the more important it became for me. This was the beginning of my journey I was moving from basic management into leadership management. Loyalty and respect became values which held new places at work for me, these values functioned on a give and take system they made all the difference, in not only the performance but the environment as well. Developing team members both personally and professionally provides assets which can be vital for the team and its effect on the mission. While in their role team members who experience growth will be more appreciative and dedicated. Members who depart from the team always carry something beneficial for the team. You may find the higher they rise the more advantageous it is for the team. Therefore, don’t worry about their departure and continue to cultivate members every chance you get.
