I am an RA at Northern Kentucky University. As an RA, I help students transition to college and help them understand how to live on their own away from parents. It is my duty to enforce University Housing policy- to ensure the safety of students plus maintain a positive learning environment. As an RA, I have developed a unique set of skills because I get to work with students to ensure they are receiving a full well rounded college experience while enforcing rules that some tend to break. This can be challenging because I still have to live with them unlike police; for example, they get to go home after they interact with someone so they don’t have to deal with it when their job is over.…

Defining what leadership is, who leaders are, and what leaders do is not easy (Grossman & Valiga, 2017). Some of the classic theories include Great Man Theory, Trait Theories, Situational Theories, Contemporary Leadership Theories, Transformational Leadership, Authentic Leadership, and Adaptive Leadership. Applicable to this case study is the transformational leadership. This theory was first introduced by Burns (1978), and he described it as being context based, a process for motivating followers believing in similar internal values directed toward the “greater good”, and having an emphasis for leaders and followers to enjoy a close bond (Grossman & Valiga, 2017). In this case study, this type of leadership fits the charge nurse because it emphasizes how nurses need to lead in order to be able to make a difference and consistently provide a high quality of care (Grossman & Valiga, 2017).…

Introduction As I reflect on this course and the results of the Questionnaires, Reflection, and Action Worksheets I have learned many aspects of leadership. I have analyzed the definition of leadership and now have a clearer understanding of it. According to, Introduction to Leadership; concepts and practice, by Peter Northouse (2015), leadership can be composed of many variables such as relationship, trait, ability, skill, behavior, and influence process. He also elaborates on how the “leadership of an individual can be used to influence a group to accomplish a common goal”. In addition, he discusses how leadership is not the same as management (Northouse, 2015, pp. 3-7).…
