“Point of care” is any location where patient care is provided. It can be the bedside, radiology suite, emergency room, outpatient clinic or ambulance to name a few. It is wherever care is provided for the benefit of the patient. With the reimbursement shifting to “pay for quality” point of care elements have to be revised to be successful for the patient and the provider of care. Looking at the Value Equation by (Porter-O'Grady & Malloch, Quantum Leadership: Building Better Patterships for Sustainable Health , 2015) Value is now the centerpiece of service delivery. All healthcare professionals and the patients contribute to the outcome of care. The leader attempts to keep value dependent on work, quality, time and cost for the desired outcome.
