The quality measures tied to P4P included prevention and screening (well visits for infants, children, and adolescents and Chlamydia screening) and acute care (pharyngitis testing and upper respiratory infection treatment). Quality measures not tied to P4P were also measured including persistent asthma and ADHD. The results indicate a small but positively significant effect on pediatric preventive care quality measures tied to P4P. The authors note that there may be a ceiling with respect to pediatric acute care measures as the pediatric baseline performance was 94 percent. This ceiling potentially makes raising quality even higher, when it is already high, difficult.
