Being a social justice advocate can assist the clients we serve in this area. A social justice advocate is someone who is willing to speak up to the inequities which exist within society which are affecting the clients we serve. For human service professionals to effectively work with a range of persons from diverse backgrounds, it is critical we acquire competencies in the social just perspective and incorporate the competencies within our daily practice (Corey & Corey, 2016). Already discussed were the positive and negative impact on service delivery for the values of honoring cultural diversity, advocating for social justice and acting with honesty. The other values to take into consideration which will impact service delivery are respecting the dignity and welfare of all people, promoting self-determination and acting with integrity, genuineness and objectivity. When the client comes to an agency for help they have an expectation of being respected in all areas. Treating the individual with respect in dignity and respecting the welfare of all people creates an open minded environment. When the open minded environment is in place the client is able to receive the services they need to be successful. Promoting self-determination is an important component for our clients to be successful. When the client develops self-determination they are able to gain the motivation to make healthy decisions whenever a situation arises. Self-determination leads the client to having a higher self-worth which will also allow them to reach their goals as they feel stronger as a person in whole. Acting with integrity, genuineness and objectivity creates a positive environment for the client, which will enable them to grow from the situations they are facing and reach their
