In an organization, when recruiting a new staff member and a selection is already made the management has to make sure that an effective system of strategic plan of onboarding is intact. First, what is onboarding? Well it is the process of helping new hires to reach their optimal productivity, and make a big difference in how quickly a person acclimates—or even to their ultimate success in the role (Hernandez, S.R. & O’Connor, S.J. 2010). I do also believe it would have been appropriate to include in the instruction of where to go along with whom to ask for so that she the new hire could be well guided.
The manager would need to improve the activities being set for the new hire. The new hire would feel more at ease if the manager would take time to greet before the orientation starts and after. During onboarding, there will be some engagement of multiple of activities that may simplify the process. Since the new hire orientation is important, first the manager would have to emphasize their primary mission, core values and possibly the culture in the orientation process. An effective orientation would have to be consistent with the organization’s mission. Therefore, the manager would work with the new hire in order to have him or complete multiple forms such as the federal and state tax forms, an I-9 form to verify whether he or she is eligible to accept employment in the United States.
