In Transformers Age of Extinction the product placement was overall effective in changing viewer’s ideas about the product. The Budweiser was effectively placed in large part due to the emotions that the product played on. The beer was placed in Budweiser’s American flag can, and the beer was served in the main character’s workshop. The main character drove a vintage American made truck, was a hard worker, and struggled to make ends meet. By connecting the workshop scenery with an “all-American” type of character a statement was made that Budweiser was a patriotic brand, and that through buying this product you would be attached to the sought after American dream. It has also been shown that Transformers is no stranger to product placement. As a result of the first Transformers film General Motor’s sales shot up almost three percent (Baran, 2014, pg. #145). Through this we can draw a conclusion that the Budweiser was more than likely very strategically placed in the movie in order to draw the largest possible revenue for the brand since it had been successfully done in past Transformer movies. In the Wolf of Wall Street the placement of Ray-Ban sunglasses was effective in changing the audience’s view about the brand. The placement was effective because the main character Jordan Belfort did not start to wear the sunglasses until he began to make a significant amount of money. By not having the main character start to wear the sunglasses until he increased his salary it created a sense of classiness and high-class tendencies regarding the brand. The placement is also effective because the movie focuses on the luxurious lives Wall Street brokers live and inevitably encourages viewers to want to live the same type of lives as the elite shown in the movie.
